The production line of TISCO’s high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel project has recently achieved full run-through, marking that TISCO has become the third Chinese manufacturer with high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel mass production capacity.
High magnetic induction oriented silicon steel is the core material for the manufacture of transformers, and its performance directly affects the energy consumption and energy efficiency level of the transformer. According to incomplete statistics, transformer losses account for 40% of power grid losses and about 6.6% of China national power generation. Facing the requirements of the “carbon peak, carbon neutral” target, Chinese authorities have successively promulgated the “Power Transformer Energy Efficiency Limit Value and Energy Efficiency Level” and the “Transformer Energy Efficiency Improvement Plan (2021-2023)”. Under the new energy efficiency standards, about 80% of the transformers currently used in China do not meet the requirements.
High magnetic induction oriented silicon steel is a functional soft magnetic material with complex manufacturing process, strict composition control and long production process. More than 600 control points in the whole process must all get full marks to meet the index requirements. The quality of high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel is an important indicator to measure the manufacturing level of a country’s special steel. At present, TISCO’s non-oriented silicon steel has formed an annual output of more than 1 million tons, and its product lineup is fully covered. It is widely used in large power generation equipment, high-speed rail, new energy vehicles, drones, home appliances and other fields. Among them, the market share of high-grade non-oriented silicon steel has remained in the first echelon in China for many years. TISCO has fully mastered the magnetic properties and surface quality control technology of high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel. Just 2 months after the project was completed, the process demonstration and mass production were successfully completed, laying the foundation for the TISCO high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel project.
